Kenneth M. Dieter, 94, of Sandwich passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born June 26, 1921 in Cloverdale, IL, the son of Mathias and Helen (Klein) Dieter. He married Carol Anderson on September 1, 1972 in Geneva, IL. Kenneth was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, he received 3 awards for his service. He was a member of the Aurora Turners Club, being the oldest member and holding longest membership. Ken worked for Belding Engineering in West Chicago, IL for 32 years. He and Carol enjoyed many years camping in their Winnebago with the Prairie Scooners. Ken loved to play cards but most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Sandwich, IL; one daughter, Susan Vollintine of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Kenneth (Sharon) Dieter of Colorado Springs, CO; one stepdaughter, Judy (Larry) Hamer of Centralia, IL; one stepson, John (Mila) Sleezer of Yorkville, IL; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; niece-in-law, Tina Benson of Glen Ellyn, IL and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marilyn Benson and one nephew, Jim Benson.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk with Pastor William C. Weidenbach, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, September 8th at the church. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the service.
