Keith G. Jordal

May 31, 1937 — July 28, 2023

Keith G. Jordal, 86 of Somonauk, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023, surrounded by family at his home. He was born on May 31, 1937, in DeKalb, IL, the son of Kinnie and Ethel (Johnson) Jordal. He married the love of his life, Nancy K. Voga, on April 4, 1959, in Baker, IL and shared the following 64 years by her side.

Keith was a pillar of his community, a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, IL, and an active participant in many organizations. He served on the Bakers Feed Board in Leland and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Board. He was a member, and eventually president, of the Hinckley-Big Rock School Board of Education. Keith’s service extended to the Hinckley Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award for his role in organizing the Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Farm Machinery Auction, and Annual Pork Chop Dinner. He also enjoyed serving as a judge at the Big Rock Plowing Match. In his early years, Keith worked as a carpenter and at Caterpillar. After serving in the Army National Guard, Keith returned to his true passion: farming. For the next 47 years, he farmed in the Hinckley area. Keith and Nancy suffered tragedy together through the loss of their teenage son to cancer. Keith found solace in the belief that he would one day be reunited with his son Darin. Keith deeply valued his friendships, was dearly loved by his family and the time shared with them. His legacy includes countless memories and stories.

Keith is survived by his wife Nancy; two daughters, Zan (Russel) Higgins of Morris, IL and Dea (Chip) Foster of Maple Park, IL; five grandchildren, Kyle (Gresha) Foster, Brock Foster, Race (Tylor) Higgins, Rachel (Ben) Reynolds, and Rhett Higgins; great grandchild, Joi with another on the way; brother LaVern Jordal of Arizona; sisters, Marilyn Elliot of Florida, Karen DiFiore of IL and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Darin, sister Marcia Jordal and recently sister-in law Carole Jordal.
