Keith James Allen, 73, of Plano, Illinois passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1951 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Irwin Hayes Allen and Dolores Mae Assell. He married Diane Sue Lorenz on August 10, 1974 in Aurora, Illinois. Keith retired from ComEd after 33 years. After his retirement he enjoyed driving a truck for Condon Construction. He loved traveling and camping with his wife and family. He enjoyed anything that had to do with wheels, hauling, farming, watching westerns, getting up early for breakfast and cracking jokes. His love for anything mechanical came from his dad and was known for his ability to fix just about anything. Keith was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand and he never met a stranger.
Keith is survived by his two sons, Mike (Kiley) Allen of Sandwich, IL and Jeff (Brittany) Allen of Newark, IL; one daughter, Jenni (Trevor) Hall of Somonauk, IL; seven grandchildren, Wyatt, Kaleb, Klaire, Morgan, Anna Mae, Zeke, Josie; one sister, Beth (Bob) Sterkel of Sugar Grove, IL; one brother-in-law, David (Karla) Lorenz of Oswego, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his dog, Lady.
He is preceded in death by his wife Diane, his parents, two sisters, Jeannine Forner and Lori Sherman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Funeral service will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Kaul officiating. Memorials may be directed to Camp Kangaroo
