Joyce F. Solonka, 77, of Sandwich passed away suddenly Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her home. She was born April 4, 1937 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Alfred & Angeline (Cosentino) Boschelli. She married Carl Solonka on April 28, 1990 in Batavia, IL. Joyce was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk. She was a member of Women of the Moose for over 50 years. Joyce worked at Sears for 25 years and Wal-Mart for 5 years. She was lovingly called Dr. Joyce by her friends and neighbors, she always knew how to ease their aliments.
She is survived by her husband, Carl of Sandwich; three daughters, Kathy (Dave) Kettley of Aurora, IL, Laurie (Timothy) Butt of Kingsville, Ontario, Canada and Melissa (Will) Pomeroy of Terre Haute, IN; four sons, Mike (Lisa) Peura of Yorkville, IL, David (Dawn) Solonka of Oak Forest, IL, Carl Solonka, Jr. of Aurora, IL and Randy Solonka of Indy, IN; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Marie Boschelli of Lisle, IL; one aunt, Louise Bucciere of Aurora, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Father Andrew C. Hougan officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet in Aurora. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Mooseheart.
