Joyce L. Smith, 58, of Baraboo, Wisconsin passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 in her home. She was born November 15, 1958 in Mendota, IL, the daughter of Boyd and Evelyn Jacobs Smith. She grew up in Earlville, attended Earlville Schools and graduated in the class of 1976. She graduated from Western Illinois University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement. Joyce worked at Ottawa Detention Center for 2 years and she was a cook at the Manor Steak House in Earlville. Most recently Joyce worked at Wal-Mart in Wisconsin Dells as a sales associate for 15 years. Joyce was a lifetime member of the James H. Hamill Unit 549 American Legion Auxiliary of Earlville. Joyce enjoyed having her sister, Barbara, visit her in Wisconsin. They also enjoyed traveling to many places together. She enjoyed visiting with all her friends and family.
She is survived by one sister, Virginia Kenneth Krienert of Earlville, IL; her beloved cat “Missy”, one niece Kristen Krienert of Bloomington, IL, two aunts, Lois “Toots” Ridge and JoAnne Eichorn, both of Mendota, IL and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Barbara.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Earlville United Methodist Church 313 Stilson St. Earlville, IL with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial of her urn will follow at Precinct Cemetery in rural Earlville. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the church until the service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a fund to be decided later. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
