Joseph J. Modica, 88, of Somonauk, IL went home to the Lord on December 8, 2010. His final days were spent surrounded by his family. Joe was born on October 19, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Dominick and Maria Rubuano Modica. He was a decorated WWII veteran and served in General Patton's Infantry Division. He married Sadie LaPorta on November 29, 1947. They spent 63 years together and had four children. Joe loved his long career as a mechanic, but was a man of all trades. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie, his daughters, MaryAnne (Ed) Josefchuk, Nancy (Tim) Nixon both of Somonauk, IL and Diane (Mike) Leffler of Warrenville, IL; six grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Diebold, Amber (Steve) Delo, Stephen, Michael, and Christopher Rivers and Nicole Leffler, four great grandchildren, and four step grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Francis Catalano, and his son Joseph. Joesph parished in the Our Lady of Angels school fire in 1958, we take solace knowing that they are together again.
