Joni E. Knox, 76, of Sandwich passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. She was born March 7, 1939 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Dr. Joseph and Edna Short Wasson. She married Jim K. Knox on October 19, 1957. Joni was an avid Bridge player. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she served as a Council Member, Fellowship Member, Ruth Unit, Chime Choir and Praise Team Choir and was coordinator for the Salem Fellowship Dinners. She served for over 20 years as an Election Judge. She owned and operated Knox Jewelers with her husband, Jim, for over 30 years. Joni also worked at the round office and livestock office at the Sandwich Fair for around 40 years as well as numerous other activities at the fair, which she truly enjoyed and looked forward to each and every year. In honor of her dedication and to continue Joni’s long years of service, at the livestock office her children will be continuing working at the livestock office to carry on her tradition of service. As Joni would say, “Business as usual so come out and enjoy the fair!”
She is survived by three daughters, Julie Pearson of Sandwich, IL, Jerri Jim Kuhn of Sandwich, IL and Jill Joe Gentile of Littleton, CO; one son, Jay Knox of Sandwich, IL; ten grandchildren, Jason Pearson, Danielle Harris King, Kyle Pearson, Austin Pearson, Eric Kuhn, Rich Elizabeth Kuhn, Alicia Kyle Heinzeroth, Josh Falon Pfalzgraff, Justin Pfalzgraff and Lily Knox; six great grandchildren; one brother, John Wray Joan Wasson of Somonauk, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim, and one brother, Richard Wasson. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Salem Lutheran Church in Sandwich with Pastor Wayne Derber officiating.
