John T. “Jack” George, 72, of Plano, IL passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, April 30, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born October 17, 1943 in Cherokee, Iowa the son of Charlie and Margaret Bunkers George. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army for 9 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service, he was employed by Weir Foundry in Plano, IL. He later went on to own several local businesses including Take N Eat in Plano. He spent his retirement years with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and never missing one of their sporting events. He was truly their #1 fan!

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Donna George of Plano. His son Darin Kristi George of Yorkville, IL; his daughters, Diana Sean Hupe and Jean Anne George, both of Plano. Four grandchildren, Christine George, Jewel Hupe, Hannah Hupe and Myles Hupe. Two step-grandchildren, A.J. Branson and Abbi Branson. Six siblings, Ron George, Fran Sharon George, Tom Julie George, Chuck Marilyn George, Linda Cindy Maher George and Mary Phil George-Lyon. A brother in law Danny Kathy Speelmon. Several nieces and nephews including Kathy Fitzpatrick who took her mom, Gerry’s place in the family after her passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Gerry Fitzpatrick and a sister in law Nancy Speelmon.

Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 1001 N. Center Street in Plano, IL with Rev. Andy Davy M.I.C. officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack’s name to a charity of your choice.
