John H. Gast, 73, of Sebastian, FL, passed into eternal life Monday, June 5, 2023, at VNA Hospice in Vero Beach, FL. John was born June 13, 1949, the only child to Harold Gast and Linda (Schmidt) Gast. John graduated from Earlville High School. He was an Elks lodge member for 53 years. He was the former owner of Gast Enterprises, an RV transport business. Prior to that he was in boat sales in several locations including Florida and Michigan. Prior to boat sales, was also a manufacturer’s representative for agricultural chemicals. John was an avid landscaping and gardening hobbyist. He cherished the friendship of other alumni from Earlville high and enjoyed attending their reunions. His love of boats was a life-long affair. John loved spending time with his family – especially his two granddaughters. He adored his cat, Sammy, and spoiled him immensely with the finest of cat foods and treats. He spent a lot of his time traveling for work and was content to be at home. He retired in Aug of 2008 and moved to Florida in 2010. He was blessed to have a long and happy retirement which he and Joan spent attending musical concerts, traveling on vacations, visiting family, helping with the Elk’s lodge, passing the time poolside, gardening pineapples, and meticulously maintaining his yard.
Those left to cherish his memories include his partner in life: Joan Mason, mother: Linda Gast, 1 child: Daymon (Laura) Gast, two granddaughters: Avery and Addison Gast.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Gast.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday June 18, 2023, at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville with Earlville’s Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Pastor, Denise Rode, officiating.
