John Clayton "Yogi Bear" Britt, 57, of Yorkville, IL passed away, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at his home. He was born December 17, 1951 the son of George M. and Anita Clayton Britt. He graduated from Newark High School in 1970. He was a 25 year member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge. In the 70's and 80's he was a Police Officer serving Yorkville, Plano, Oswego, and Sugar Grove. John was a lifetime Kendall County resident and proud farmer with his father and George Hollenbeck when he was young. He bought a Harley two years ago and on lazy Sunday afternoons, he loved to tool around the back roads. John had three passions in his life, the first was playing the drums he has played since he was a teenager in bands such as "The Silver Moon", "The Boyce Hill", and for the last 25 years "The Winds of Change". The second was driving a truck. John took great pride in this profession, he owned and operated J & B Truck Training in Yorkville for over 20 years and was the #1 school in the state in the 90's as well as driving for many area companies. The latest being NBD Transportation in Elburn. The third being his family and friends; because of his passions he has established friendships that have the lastest a lifetime you know who you are and how very special you were to him. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly (Connelly); their children, Kourtney (Joe) Batok and Kody; his mother, Anita Britt all of Yorkville; his brother, Bob (Peggy) Britt of Delavan, WI; his sisters, Marianne (Ron) Wells of Yorkville, Janis (Mike) Rogers of Naperville, his in-laws, Jack and Pam Connelly, Kyle (Kris) Connelly, Jay (Jill) Richardson, and Julie Soave; nineteen nieces and nephews, seven great nephews, and his god daughter and only great niece, Kyleigh Price; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his very special great aunt, Phyliss Clayton of Yorkville.
