Joe “Cadillac Joe” Apodaca, 88, of Earlville passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home. He was born August 19, 1928 in El Paso, TX, the son of Hipolito and Lasara Davilla Apodaca. He married Cynthia R. “Cindy” Casey on May 6, 1961 in North Aurora. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. At the end of the war, he traveled to the South Pole on Admiral Byrd’s Expedition. The penguins completely fascinated Joe. He was a life member of the Amvets and the VFW.
He is survived by his six children, Delores Charles George of Waterman, IL, Joe Cheri Apodaca of Hinckley, IL, Vickie Dave Janda Apodaca of Arvada, CO, Jane Peter Pabon of St. Charles, IL, Scott Apodaca of Wilmington, NC and Tammy Brian Russell of Sandwich, IL; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary Comstock of Sycamore, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cindy, one infant son, Joe Robert and one brother, Robert Apodaca.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Del Keilman officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the funeral home in Somonauk.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 at Johnson Grove Cemetery in Waterman, IL. Following graveside service there will be a luncheon at Amvets 1194 Jericho Rd.
