Jesse S. Johnson, 92, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his home. He was born October 5, 1919 in Newark, Illinois the son of Ole and Gertrude (Olson) Johnson. He married Helen Fritsch on February 12, 1948 in Aurora, IL. He was an Army Veteran having served during WWII. He farmed in the Somonauk area his entire life. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing, draft horses, walking his dog Lovey, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Mark W. Johnson of Sandwich, IL and Paul (Lisa) Johnson of Sandwich, IL, two foster sons, Alan (Janice) Ward of TX and Donnie (Cathey) Ward of MN; three grandchildren, Troy Woods, Mitch Johnson and Jesse Johnson; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert (Elizabeth) Johnson of Millbrook, IL and Alden Johnson of Oswego, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, one daughter Kay Woods, one son Ricky, four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with Rev. David Kaul officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
