Jeremy Nathan Boltz, age 47, of Chicago, formerly of Earlville, passed away May 2, 2023, in Chicago. A celebration of life will be held with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, at Earlville Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Homes with classmate and friend Pastor Tom Jenkins officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Homes, Earlville.

Jeremy was born on February 10, 1976, at the Mendota Community Hospital, the son of Sheila (Serrano) Boltz and Chris Boltz and was later the stepson of Karla (Harner) Boltz Hasselbacher. Jeremy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church as part of the 1990 confirmation class. Jeremy attended Earlville Community School District No. 9, graduating in 1994. Following high school graduation, he attended Waubonsee Community College, Sugar Grove.

Jeremy was an outstanding three sport athlete at Earlville High School setting many records. He still holds records in basketball. Jeremy is in the IHSA Basketball Record Books for scoring 51 points in the Malta game, February 1994. He had the most assists for a career at 65, ranked 17th for the State. He had 32 assists in 1993 for a single season, ranked 19th in the State. As a junior, he scored 39 points in a single game during the Plano Christmas Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Plano Christmas Classic. His senior year he was named to the Ottawa Little 10 Big 8 First Team All - Area Basketball Team. He excelled in soccer and baseball as well. He played soccer and basketball at Waubonsee. At one point he played semi - professional football for a St. Charles team as their kicker, utilizing his soccer skills. He continued developing athleticism throughout his life as an avid body builder and weightlifter in numerous Chicagoland area gyms and fitness centers. His favorite professional athletic team was the New York Yankees.

Jeremy worked as a union laborer at Adjustable Concrete Construction, James McHugh Construction Company, and Concrete Structures. He also worked security for Chicago night clubs Enclave, Parliament, and Crescendo.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Sheila (Serrano) Hadlock; father, Chris Boltz; stepmother, Karla (Harner) Hasselbacher; half - brothers, Kyle, Evan, and Max Boltz; nieces, Annie, Isla, and Monroe Boltz; Uncles, Scott, Sandford, and Robert Boltz, Dale and Mike, Jr. Serrano; Doug and Greg Harner, and Tricia Hamil as well as many cousins.

Jeremy was no stranger to losses. He was preceded in death by his half - brothers, Jacob, Joey and James Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Marti and Mike Serrano; his paternal grandparents, Dolores and Wayne Boltz; his maternal grandparents, Dora and Howard Harner; cousin, Grant Harner.
