Jeffrey L. Jerabek, 59, of Yorkville, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 28, 1956 in Aurora, IL, the son of James and Mildred Hanzlik Jerabek. He married Rebecca Davis on January 13, 1990 in Sandwich, IL. Jeff was a member of Yorkville Congregational Church, he was Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #40 for 10 years and Scout Leader for 18 years. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Riders Post #489 and Chapel on the Green Historical Society. Jeff owned and operated J’s Shoe Repair in Oswego and was the third generation to do so. He enjoyed his work as a shoe repairman and took great pride in his craft. Jeff was passionate about Scouting and everything to do with the outdoors. He loved fishing, canoeing, camping, hiking and mentoring young men through Scouting.
He is survived by his wife, Becky of Yorkville, IL; two sons, Joseph Jerabek of Yorkville, IL and Louis Carol McCaslin of Bondurant, IA; five grandchildren, Desiree, Claudia, Abigail, Craig and Paradais; four brothers, James Janice Jerabek of New Auburn, WI, John Paula Jerabek of Sandwich, IL, Joel Stephanie Jerabek of Huntington, IN and Jason Jerabek of Casey, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His Life’s Retirement Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Yorkville Congregational Church in Yorkville, IL with Pastor Mark Gregory officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the church in Yorkville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Yorkville Congregational Church, Boy Scout Troop #40, Chapel on the Green or the charity of one’s choice.
