Jeanene K. Wasson, 63, of Somonauk, IL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2026. She was born on August, 19, 1962 in Sandwich, IL to John and Joan (Hauser) Wasson. She was raised in Somonauk. Jeanene lived a life defined by kindness, service to others, and a deep joy for the little things in life. She graduated Somonauk High School in 1980. She joined MetLife in the typing pool and worked her way up. On February 2, 2026, she celebrated her remarkable 45-year work anniversary with the company. Jeanene brought laughter and warmth to the office each day. She was always willing to take time to help others, and many of her coworkers remember her patience and her constant willingness to lend a hand, no matter how busy she was. Throughout her life, she generously donated blood, giving the gift of life to countless strangers. It was one of the quiet ways she cared for others. Jeanene had a deep love for animals. Throughout her life she cared for many pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and chinchillas, among others. She also had a special place in her heart for the wildlife that visited her home, often leaving out food, water, and shelter for them. She had a special way of remembering the smallest details about the people in her life, often sharing photos of the raccoons that visited her yard or her inflatable decorations with friends she knew would smile at them. Jeanene was known for the little quirks that made her uniquely herself. She disliked coffee but loved Dr Pepper and was a devoted Aldi shopper. Though she was a vegetarian, she had a surprisingly long list of vegetables she didn’t enjoy. She loved gardening and had a true green thumb. She also had a sharp sense of humor and a talent for sarcasm, often using it to lift the spirits of friends and help them navigate difficult moments. She was a creative and talented woman who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and various crafts. She loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart and did her best to bring others to Him. She helped teach Sunday School to the toddlers at her “Yellow Box Church” for many years. Jeanene loved sharing her childhood stories, especially the one about the backyard rollercoaster in which she had fun with cousins and neighbors. She always enjoyed great contemporary Christian music and the awesome message that it brought. She reflected the Lord‘s light in her love for others and her love for all the creatures of this world. Those who knew and loved Jeanene will always remember her kindness, her mentorship, her humor, and her genuine love for life.
Jeanene is survived by her mother, Joan M. Wasson; brother, Jeff (Katie) Wasson; niece, J. Wasson; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jeanene is preceded in death by her father, John W. Wasson.
