On Tuesday, June 14, 2022 Janis Lynn Novak of Davenport, IA passed away at the age of 68. Janis was born on May 29, 1954 in Mendota, IL. She graduated from Earlville High School in 1972, from Augustana College with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1975 and then received her Masters Degree in 1982 from the University of Iowa. It is there where she met her lifelong companion Gary Lee.
She was the loving daughter of the late Alvin and June (Klatt) Novak. Dear sister of Kevin (Momoko) Novak of Tokyo, Japan, Phyllis (Jack) Jordan of Port Byron, IL and Don (Rita) Novak of Earlville, IL. Caring aunt to Ryan (Nicole) Novak, Brooke (Joe) Hannon, Shawn Novak, Justin Novak and Breana Novak. Precious great aunt to her “little people”: Tessa, Makenna and Nora Novak and Evelyn and JJ Hannon. And thoughtful relative to so many extended family.
Family was the world to Janis, especially her parents, who were also her best friends. She loved traveling the world, visiting friends, and attending church with them. She also loved dogs, baseball, a gourmet meal, a fine wine, a craft beer and a dark roast coffee.
She built a very successful 30-year career at Merrill Lynch in Davenport, IA, where relationships built with colleagues turned into lifelong friendships. But home was always at The Farm in Earlville, IL.
Janis was loved, and will be missed, by many. But we take solace knowing that she is now reunited with her best friends: mom and dad.
