James C. Zitt, of Yorkville, IL formerly of Naperville, IL. He was born in 1930 in Chicago, IL, the son of August Anthony and Rose Bernadette (Johnson) Zitt. Attended St. Peter and Paul Grade School in Naperville and Naperville High School. He married Mary M. Struewing on November 17, 1951, following her passing on August 15,2002 he married Joyce E. Cockriel August 17, 2003, in Plano. He was formerly employed for 25 years at Clyde C. Netzley in Naperville. He then started his own business, J and M Truck Service in Plainfield until his retirement in 1996. He volunteered for Naperville Fire Department for ten years.
He became a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville in 2010 and was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano, where he was active in the Holy Name Society and was an usher. He was a lifelong Knights of Columbus member in Naperville. He enjoyed his large family and many grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by ten children, Margaret Zitt of Naperville; James (Cathleen) Zitt, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ; Anthony Zitt of Columbus, MS; Thomas (Barbara) Zitt of Yorkville; Ann (Mark) Kohut of Sun Lakes, AZ; Timothy (Sue) Zitt of Stockton, MO; Jeanne (Jamie) Keller of Peoria, AZ; Terry (Sue) Zitt of Plainfield; Rosemary (Dave) Gunderson of Sun Lakes, AZ; Andrew (Patrice) Zitt of Mokena; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Zitt of Tucson, AZ; Carol (Gary) Leach of Tucson, AZ; Jane (John) Overstreet of Bradenton, FL; one brother, Donald Zitt of Yorkville and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary; second wife, Joyce, and four sisters, Betty Bolino, Joan Marshall, Lois Pitz, and Peggy Karl.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville, with Father Matthew Tomeny officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Bristol. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
