James W. Sutton

James W. Sutton, 64, of Prophetstown, IL formerly of Earlville, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Morrison Hospital in Morrison, IL. He was born December 19, 1949 in Bremen, Indiana, the son of James W. and Laura L. (Collins) Sutton. He married Barbara Davis on August 5, 1980. Jim graduated from Earlville High School in the class of 1968, and later graduated from N.I.U. with a bachelor’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the Earlville American Legion where he was a former commander, served as a trustee for Earlville Fire Protection District. He retired in 2013 as general manager at the Earlville Co-op where he had been employed since 1981. He had a private pilot license, enjoyed the outdoors and his animals. Jim was a loving, caring man and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, one son Kirk (Julie) Reinhart of Ashton, IL, two daughters, Brandy (Don) Mantz of Powell, OH and Courtney Stryker of Shabbona, IL; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Larry Sutton and one granddaughter Katrina.

Prayer service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL, with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville with military honors by the Earlville American Legion.
