James M. Jarka, 80, of Earlville, Illinois went home to be with his Savior Sunday, May 5, 2024 in Allure of Mendota, IL, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1944 in Chicago, IL the son of Walter and Angeline (Lasek) Jarka. He married Louise Bernard on September 7, 1968 in Chicago, IL. They would spend the next 55 years happily united in marriage together. Jim served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also stationed in Tacoma, WA. He retired from the Chicago Teamsters where he spent his years as a truck driver. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially loved fishing, passionately saltwater fishing. Nothing made him happier than fishing with his children and grandchildren. Jim was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, IL.
He is survived by his loving wife Louise who never left his side; Jim was blessed with five daughters; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. At his side were Ginger McGowen (Marc Vandervort), Jill (Bob) Santoro, Dorothy Jarka (Brandon Halmagyi), and Monica Jarka; with Jim were his grandchildren, Collin, Blaise, Dorian, Jonny, Scarlett, and Marc Jr. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Joe Jarka, and one sister Marian Kosek.
