James A. Gerard, Jr.

James A. Gerard, Jr. of Granville, IL passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Spring Valley, Il. He was born on November 27, 1957 in Mendota, IL the son of James Sr. and Mary (Whitecotten) Gerard. He spent most of his life working as a painter in the Mendota area and was an avid Cardinals and Vikings fan. He was known for his famous BBQ sauce and loved cooking. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his father, James (Norma) Gerard Sr. of Wayne City, IL; two sons, James A. Gerard III of the Philippines and Adam Gerard of Ottawa, IL; two daughters, Samantha Gerard of Oglesby, IL and Kalla Mahar of Amboy, IL; ten grandchildren and one sister, Brenda (Joe) Walz of Sandwich, IL, two brothers, Billy (Tina) Gerard of Iowa and Mike Gerard of TN., and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary and one brother, Bobby Gerard.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 1:00 -3:00 pm at the Somonauk Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be directed to the Gerard Family to help with funeral expenses.
