Jack R. Friel, 82, of Yorkville, IL passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Plano, IL. He was born April 25, 1934 in Iowa the son of George and Florence Boyd Friel. He married Dorothy Cunningham on September 4, 1954 in Yorkville. He retired from Caterpillar after over 30 years of service and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. Jack was a proud veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Jeff Beach Swan of Dallas, Texas; one son, Steven Dawn Friel of Yorkville, IL; three grandchildren, Jason Jaime Martin Gunterman, George Friel, and Brad Friel; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Dominic, and Natlie; one brother-in-law, Clarence Kathy Cunningham of Oswego, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, one brother, Jerry Friel, and one brother-in-law, Raymond Cunningham.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral in Plano, IL with Pastor Richard Kenneavy officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 until the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
