Holly (Stewart) Erickson, age 75, of Yorkville, Illinois passed away on June 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 15, 1946 in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of Elaine (Ashley) and Robert Stewart. She married her high school-sweetheart, Bert Erickson on August 17, 1968.
Holly graduated from Illinois State University, where she received a degree in Education. She started her teaching career in Aurora followed by two years in Guam. During their time in Guam, Holly and Bert traveled around the world before returning to their hometown of Yorkville to start their family. Holly taught both math and physical education until the birth of their children. She returned to the classroom teaching high school math at Mooseheart Child City and School where she finished her career. Holly put the same energy into her students as she did her own children. Amongst the many highlights as an educator, Holly was recognized as the Kane County Educator of the Year. Her love of numbers inspired her children to pursue their higher education in engineering and math. She was their biggest cheerleader.
Outside the classroom, Holly was talented in the kitchen and the arts, notably a gift for amazing pies and writing in calligraphy. In her spare time, she traveled the world and kept busy gardening, running, bicycling, baking, and crocheting. She felt blessed by the birth of her grandchildren and loved to be with them every moment she could.
She is survived by her husband Bert, son Benjamin (Paula) of Sugar Grove, son Christopher (Angie) of Downers Grove, and daughter Molly (Kurt) Martinson of Bristol; grandchildren Avery, Anders, and Claire Erickson; Aiden and Ashley Erickson; Graham, Hunter, Elliott, and Race Martinson; brother Craig (Diane) Stewart, sister Laurie (Jon) Walker, and many nieces and nephews.
