Hermann A. Gottlieb, 80, of Sandwich, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his residence in Lake Holiday. He was born August 20, 1933 in Chicago, IL the son of Erik and Elsa (Nielsen) Andersen. He married Stella Gardner on December 29, 2006 in Somonauk, IL. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 43 years, the Carpenters Local 58 of Chicago, VFW of Sandwich. Hermann’s passions were for the outdoors, dancing, traveling and his greatest love of all was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Stella of Sandwich; one son David (Juliann) Gottlieb of Somonauk; two daughters, Karen (Ron) Masson of North Branch, MN, Kristina Gottlieb of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, David (Beth) Gottlieb, Dana (Matt) Theilk, Nicholas Gottlieb, Brad Masson, Danielle Masson, Michelle Masson and Sophia Gottlieb; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Andersen of Copenhagen, Denmark; the mother of his children Rolande Kuntz of Newark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife Judith Gottlieb.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 235 N. Green St. Somonauk with the Pastor Sherry Hoening officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday October 27, 2013 at the church in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.
