Henry “Hank” S. Marvick, 92, of Leland, IL passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015. He was born March 20, 1923 in Oak Park, IL the son of Spencer and Alma (Sanderson) Marvick. He married Jacqueline Edwards on August 25, 1948 in Kirkland, IL.
He was owner of Marvick’s Inc. Farm Store in Leland for 37 years. He attended Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees for over 3 years, in the South Pacific. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, AF & Am Masonic Lodge # 558, American Legion Post #570, and Commissioner for the Housing Authority of LaSalle County for 10 years, Lions Club member for 27 years, served on the Leland Village Board, Volunteer for the Leland Fire Department and served on the Sandwich Hospital Board.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jackie; his children, Diane (Dave) Elder of Lawrenceville, GA and Drew Marvick of Leland, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Deron) Dowhower of Atlanta, GA. Tyler Elder of Smyrna, GA and Lindsay Marvick of DeKlab, IL; three great grandchildren, Brooke Dowhower, Lauren Dowhower and Colby Dowhower; one sister-in-law Dixie Marvick and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Roger Marvick, three sisters, Margretta Heriaud, Virginia Frost and Carol Boos and one brother Orin Marvick.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church 235 E. Lundy Lane Leland, IL with Pastor Harold Grafe officiating. Private burial will follow in Leland Cemetery Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11th in the church until the time of services at 11:30.
