Helen Pauline (Machumis) Ridenour passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014. She was born March 13, 1919 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia to Pauline and Mike Machumis. At the age of 7 her family moved to Stanaford, West Virginia. On June 26, 1948 she married Thomas Farley Ridenour of Kimberly, West Virginia and they settled in Stanaford until 1960 when they moved their family to Plano, Illinois. Their three children are Betty, Tom and Brenda. Helen was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Plano.
Helen worked for 21 years at Plano Molding Company in the injection and compression departments. She made friends but her best friend was Marilyn Smith, who became a part of her family.
Helen and Tom took pride in their garden and flower beds over the years. They canned food for their family and shared vegetables from their garden with all of their friends and neighbors. Everyone loved to come and sit on their big front porch in the summer and reminisce about the “good old days,” while drinking ice tea.
Helen is survived by her children, Betty (Dave) Lundeen of Columbus, WI, Tom (Michele) Ridenour of Oswego, IL and Brenda Clapper of Plano, Il; her grandchildren, Dave (Vicki), Matt (Ann), Erik (Brittany) Lundeen, Sara (Pete) Deminsky, Jill (Mike) Justman, Tommy Ridenour, Mike (Michele), Kyle and Justin (Meredith) Sheley; thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom in 2003, her brothers, Mike and Steve Machumis, her sister Mary Shumate, two sisters and two brothers in infancy, her son-in-law, Lonnie Clapper, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and very special niece Peggy Stanley.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano with her grandson, Michael Sheley officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the funeral home in Plano. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Lundeen, Matthew Lundeen, Erik Lundeen, Tom Ridenour, Kyle Sheley and Justin Sheley.
