Helen Mihalka Osland

Helen Mihalka Osland born December 9, 1923 to George Mihalka and Julia Kish of the Pigeon Hill area of Aurora passed December 6, 2012 at her home in Sandwich, IL. She was one of ten children, three passing at birth. Helen is a lifelong member of the Sandwich Moose and was also a member of the AWBA Bowling Hall of Fame. She retired from Allsteel Furniture Company after 42 years in the personal department. Helen was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Osland of Sandwich; one sister Pauline Pellerite of Newark, OH; one brother George “Butch” Mihalka of Aurora, IL; and many nieces and nephews and her yellow lab, Charlie Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Louise as a teenager and Florence Stadel; two brothers Alex and John.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich with Father Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to the Sandwich Moose.
