Helen M. Kocek, 93, of Somonauk, IL passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. Helen was born February 25, 1929 in Summit, IL the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Matkovich) Fajdich. She married Richard R. Kocek on December 9, 1950 in LaGrange, IL. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk. She volunteered at Valley West Community Hospital for over 20 years and the Sandwich Opera House for over 15 years. She was a active member of Lake Holiday Ladies Club.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Kocek, Jr. of Sheridan, IL and James Kocek of Lyons, IL; two grandchildren, Richard J.(Alysa) Kocek of Downers Grove, IL and Serina (Chris) Kogut of Stickney, IL; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Harper, Nora and Hannah; one sister, Mary Spielman of Pinellas, FL; one sister-in-law, Hilda Kocek of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Joseph Fajdich.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk.
