Helen M. Collins, 96, of Plano passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 4, 1928 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Oliver and Helen (Mesnard) Ticer. She married George Lee Collins on December 27, 1963 in Aurora, IL. Helen re-invented herself after retirement, taking up golf, joining a gym, sewing quilts, and extensive travel with her husband. She found great joy in volunteering at Jennings Terrace, where she participated in fundraising events. Her great joy of all was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, George; her two children, Tim Barry and Darrell Collins; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Barry; her grandchildren, Melissa Barry, Allison Barry-Balt, Steve Barry, Ryan Barry, Kevin Barry, Claire (Tyler Farnsworth) Collins, and Olivia (Matt Schlipper) Collins; her great grandchildren, Jake Herman, Michelle Bywater, Breanna Marie, and Dean Schlipper; her great great grandchildren, Dean, Maverick, Emily, Seth, Elora, Levi, & Kaleb; her brother, Bob (Jackie) Ticer; her nieces and nephews, Carol Staup, Pam (Tim) Johnson, Gary Ticer, Bruce Ticer, Robert Ticer, Robyn Ticer; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Barry, and her brother, Sydney Ticer, a niece Jean Ticer, and a nephew, Chris Detoni.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the funeral home in Plano. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora.
