Heidi Elisabeth Zanker, 45, passed away at Kline Galland Home in Seattle, WA on May 6, 2015 with her son and parents at her side. She was diagnosed with stage IV triple negative breast cancer in June 2012 and lived courageously with the disease until her death.
Heidi was born on September 20, 1969 in Sandwich, IL. She graduated from Central High School in Davenport, IA in 1987, and went on to receive an Associates of Applied Science in Nursing from Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL in 1997. She also received her Associates of Science from Kishwaukee College in 2001, and graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL with both a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Education and Health Education in 2004.
Heidi was a registered nurse in Illinois, Iowa, Washington, and California.
She worked as an agency nurse in Kane County Illinois from 1997 until 2007 when she moved to Seattle, WA. There she worked for King County Jail as an agency nurse until hired full time in December of 2013 as a public health nurse. She remained a fiercely dedicated employee until her last day of work in January 2015. She inspired and touched the lives of all those who met, knew, and worked with her by always going the extra mile, and constantly striving to do greater things. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months. Heidi possessed a great love of art and design. Her diagnosis and subsequent treatment along with work left no time to continue this pursuit
