Harry E. Land, 81, of Somonauk, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, Illinois surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1934 in Sandwich, IL the son of Dalton and Esther Travis Land. He married Doris Koch on June 30, 1956 in Somonauk, IL. Harry worked as a carpenter for over 50 years. He was a member of Carpenters Local 195 for 10 years, the Sandwich Moose Lodge #1016, and a retired Somonauk Fireman. Harry served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division in Korea from 1952 to 1955. He loved boating, fishing, and riding his scooter Harry’s Harley.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Somonauk, two daughters, Debbie Jim Ammons of Omaha, NE and Kelly Cory Johnson of Somonauk, IL, one son Brad Land of Largo, FL, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Marilyn Land of Yorkville, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son in infancy, three sisters and three brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow in West Serena Cemetery rural Serena, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 in the funeral home until the service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Charity of one’s choice.
