Harrison D. Shambaugh, 81, of Somonauk, IL passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born February 21, 1932 in Waterman, IL the son of Miles and Ester (Schafman) Shambaugh. He married Myrna Wicks on September 4, 1953 in Yorkville, IL. Harrison was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Sandwich Moose Lodge, and Sandwich Masonic Lodge Meteor #283. He was also a Somonauk Fireman. Harrison owned a bulk fuel business for over 30 years in Somonauk. He was a good mechanic, constantly fixing all sorts of machinery especially lawn mowers and small engines. Harrison enjoyed yard work and took pride in trimming the red bud tree. He regularly had breakfast or coffee with the guys at the County Kitchen and later they starting meeting at Doug’s Barber Shop.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Somonauk and one son, Darrell Shambaugh of Somonauk, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Shambaugh and Earl “Bud” Shambaugh.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Somonauk and one son, Darrell Shambaugh of Somonauk, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
