Harold G."Grandpa Willy" Amundsen, 75, of Earlville, IL passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born October 14, 1937 in Norway the son of Olaf and Ingrid (Odegord) Amundsen. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War and when he got of the service he moved to the Earlville area and helped Martin Olsen farm in the area and later rented his own farm. He worked at Electrical Materials in Leland as a setup and design man for 15 years.
He is survived by one sister Bee Amundsen of New York, two grandchildren, Teresa Sanchez and Myrna Mesecher both of Earlville, IL; several great grandchildren, and special cousins, Glenn and Robert Olsen both of Earlville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his close friends Dennis and Jean Cook.
Graveside services to bury his urn will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville, IL. With Military Honors by Earlville American Legion. According to Harold’s wishes there will be no visitation. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
