Harold R. Short, 77, of Somonauk, IL passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born December 19, 1936 in rural Casey, IL the son of Lowell and Lottie Neidigh Short. Harold married Josephine Ogle on July 16, 1959 in West Union, IL. He was a member of the Somonauk Lions Club, Sandwich Mooses Lodge #1016 and enjoyed his time working at the Sandwich Fair. Harold attended Somonauk Baptist Church. He was employed at Caterpillar in Montgomery for over 33 years.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Short of Somonauk, IL; two sons, David R. (Laura) Short of Louisville, KY, and Daniel J. (Susan) Short of Clinton, IL; three grandchildren, Krystina M. (Mark) Johnson, Lauren Jean Short, and Matthew R. Short; three granddaughters, Kaylee, Alexis, and Payton Johnson; one sister, Marilyn Hill of Muenster, IN; two brothers, Caroll "Luke" (Georgia) Short of Hannibal, MO and Morris (Raye) Short of Annapolis, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Olive Branch Baptist Church in Martinsville, IL with Pastor Randy Nave officiating. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery in West Union, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the church in Martinsville, IL.
