Harold C. Desponett, 82, of Leland, Illinois passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, Illinois surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 26, 1941, in Duncan, Kentucky the son of Bernice “Bill” and Doris (Lake) Desponett. Harold married Edith Clark on January 26, 1963, in DeKalb, Illinois. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Horseman Association for several years. He owned and operated his own plumbing business for over 30 years. He loved horseback riding, Team Penning, Stock car racing while owning stock car “05”. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and spoiling his three great-granddaughters. He loved piddling around and rarely was there something he could not fix. All his friends and family reaped the benefits of his jack of all trade skills. He was known to his family and several friends as “Honey” which was given to him by his first granddaughter, Shannon.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; one daughter, Dana (Greg) Kleinprinz of Leland, IL; one son, Steven (Cathy) Desponett of Cotopaxi, CO; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Trevor, Kelly, Brody, Riley, Grace, Wyatt, and Joseph; three great grandchildren, Avary, McKinley, and Violet; two sisters, Elois (Tony) Fleckenstein of FL Mildred Holliday of Lawrenceburg of KY; one brother, James “Jimmy” Desponett of KY; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Holliday and Leo Bomleny; two sisters-in-law, Carol Desponett and Ruby Sauceman; mother-in-law, Ella Mae Clark; father-in-law, Raymond Clark; one niece, Cindy Holliday.
