Guy A. Abbott, 81, of Leland, Illinois passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Alden Courts of Waterford in Aurora, IL. He was born October 29, 1929 Black Tuesday in Evanston, IL the son of Lysle and Lillian Anderson Abbott. He attended Leland School, graduating from Leland High School in the class of 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Japan serving in the US Army. He married Barbara J Hilpipre on November 7, 1953 in Ottawa, IL. Guy started his career as an owner of a gravel pit in Sheridan area. He was a well-known welder and fabricator, working for numerous companies in the area. He was a member of the Leland Fire Department, where he was chief for a period of time, the Leland American Legion, where he always put up the flags for the holidays, Leland Masonic Lodge, and was also employed by the Leland Police Dept and the Leland Post Office, when needed to fill in for people's vacations.

He is survived by three sons, Art Abbott of Zion, IL, Greg (Margaret) Abbott of Sheridan, IL and Chris (Sandy) Abbott of Mexico, MO, one daughter, Barbara "Barbie" (Jim) Hunt of Aurora, IL, ten grandchildren, two great grandsons, and one great grandchild due in May, two sisters, Tia O'Neil of Sandwich, IL and Sue Olle, of Ottawa, IL, Marilyn Abbott of Somonauk, IL and Judy Abbott of Montgomery, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Barbara, and one brother, Phillip.
