Glenn C. Bower, 93, of Sandwich, IL passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born Herbert Florian, Jr. on August 18, 1924 in Hull, Iowa the son of Herbert and Stella (Bower) Florian. He had a twin sister. Their mother Stella Bower Florian passed away a few days after the twins were born. Glenn was adopted by an aunt and uncle, Calvin and Anna Bower. His sister was adopted by another aunt and uncle, Stewart and Hazel Bower. Glenn worked for Western Electric in Montgomery until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed wood working, throwing horseshoes and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean Erickson of Plano, IL and Judy Murphy of Idaho Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Diane (Kreg) Wesley of Sycamore, IL, Matthew (Mary Kaye) Podschweit of Colorado Springs, CO, Verhonica Hirst of Lakewood, CO, and six granddaughters, Regan and Taylor Wesley, Aubrey and Emily Podschweit and Alexandra and Kennedy Hirst; a sister Emmajean Peterson of Sioux Center, IA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, a stepson, Doug Means, parents, Stella and Herbert (Emma) Florian, his adopted parents, Calvin and Anna Bower, his twin sister, Betty Dale, his adopted brothers, Randall Bower (Elizabeth), and Lavern Bower (Oral), an adopted sister Doris (Harry) Zerby.
