Glenda Lee Dobbs

Glenda Lee Dobbs, 82, passed away on August 10, 2023, she was born on July 20, 1941, in Ottawa, IL to Alvin and Leona (DeBolt) Nelson. She was raised on a farm near Hinckley, IL. Her formative years were spent with her grandparents Minnie and Irvin Twait in Plano, IL. She graduated from Plano High School in 1959. Glenda was united in marriage to her sweetheart and love of her life Curtis Dobbs on June 4, 1960, at First Lutheran Church in Plano, Il. Curt was drafted into the US Army where he was deployed to Germany where Glenda was able to join him there. They lived there for over a year. She went to cosmetology school and became a beautician. She later opened Glenda’s Beauty Salon in Plano, from which she retired after 45 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was an excellent bowler. Glenda was known for her wonderful laugh and was always the life of the party. She was kindhearted and had many friends where she never knew a stranger.

Glenda and Curt had two children, Shelly Dobbs of Sandwich, IL and Michael (Lori) Dobbs of Plano, IL; three grandchildren, Jordyn (Royce) Corbin, Michele (Matthew) Heller, and Michael (Mackenzie) Dobbs; four great grandchildren, Casen and Henry Corbin, Michael Curtis Dobbs III and Adelynn Dobbs; sister, Luella (Mel) Johnston; brother in law, John (Franque) Dobbs; sister in law, Delores (Dale) Bublitz and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Curtis, siblings, Marlin "Bud" and Mike Nelson.

According to Glenda’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held by her immediate family.
