Gladys Mae Rhodes

April 21, 1926 — July 17, 2015

Gladys Mae Rhodes, 89, of Somonauk, IL passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at her residence. She was born April 21, 1926 in Shabbona, IL, the daughter of Henry and Laura Stokke Anderson. Gladys was a graduate of the 1944 class at Leland High School. She married Ernest Rhodes in 1987 in Dixon, IL. She was employed at CTS Knights and Western Electric for many years. She also was a volunteer Foster Grandparent at St. Ann’s in Dixon. Gladys was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge in Sandwich, Home Extension and she was a volunteer and tour guide at the Reagan Home in Dixon, IL. She enjoyed the Bulls and the Cubs.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie William Steinbach of Mayville, WI; one son, Thomas Faye Allen of Malta, IL; eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Glenn Bower of Sandwich, IL; one sister-in-law, Jaunita Anderson of Sandwich, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest, four brothers, Irvin, Merrill, Raymond and Ralph Anderson, two sisters, Lois Johnson and Harriet Bower.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Leland with the Pastor Harold Grafe officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the church in Leland.
