Gertrude M. Middleton, 95, of Somonauk, Illinois passed away, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Tillers Health Care Residence in Oswego, IL. She was born August 16, 1915 in Sandwich to the farming family of Louis and Mary (Flaherty) Rohrer, she was the oldest sibling of Charles and Joanna Rohrer Yoesle. Gertrude attended Potter-Dreshmire Country School for eight grades and was a graduate of Sandwich High School in the Class of 1934, and a graduate of Peoria Beautician College. She married Robert E. Middleton on December 26, 1943 in Sheridan, IL. She was a member of Union Congregational Church of Somonauk, where she was active in the Sunshine Band. Also a member of the Clover Clippers 4-H Club, and the Sandwich V.F.W. # 1486 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Robert A. (Vickie) Middleton of Lacon, IL and John (Nancy) Middleton of Leland, IL; five grandchildren, Lyn (Homer) Hulon, Tina (Jeff) Vodar, Olivia (Jordan) Anderson, Emily and Mark Middleton; five great grandchildren, Coleton, Cody, Avery, Alyssa and Audrina: one brother, Charles Rohrer of Somonauk, IL and several nieces and nephews. Two special friends and caregivers, Cammie Babel of Sugar Grove, IL and Barb Wilkinson of Sheridan, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Joanna Yoesle, one
sister-in-law, Alice Rohrer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery in Sheridan, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Union Congregational Church in Somonauk, IL.
