Gerald "Jerry" Schafman

Gerald J. “Jerry” Schafman, 84, of Somonauk, IL passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born February 14, 1932 in Somonauk, IL the son of Roy and Mabel Henderson Schafman. He was a member of Union Congregational Church in Somonauk, IL where he served on numerous church boards and committees. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. Jerry enjoyed following the Lord, his family, painting, and farming.

He is survived by one sister, Norma Wally Beardsley of Sheridan, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Mall, two brothers, Rollin and Lester Schafman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Union Congregational 305 S. Gage St. Somonauk, IL with Pastor Chuck Maney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Union Congregational Church in Somonauk.
