Jerry Copeland, 72, of Sheridan, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his home. He was born on December 2, 1953, in Morrison, IL, to Dean and Lucille Copeland. Jerry lived a beautiful and fulfilling life alongside his wife, Cathy, for 53 years. They were married as teenagers on April 7, 1973, and were blessed with five children. Jerry had a particular love for cars and spent the bulk of his career in the automotive industry starting out as a mechanic, then service manager, and service director at various car dealerships.
He is survived by the love of his life, Cathy; daughter, Kallie (Nathan) Somers of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Ben Copeland of Leland, IL; He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, who were the absolute loves of his life, Katie Meier of Leland, IL; Bryley, Ryker, Azaryah, and Darryn Joy Somers of Murfreesboro, TN; and Caleb Lee Copeland of Leland, IL; one sister, Deanne Bergeron of Streator, IL. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws as well. Last, but not least, his precious pug, Louie, who went everywhere with him and brought him endless joy.
Jerry was preceded in death by three children, Katie on December 8, 1982; Timothy on July 29, 2022; and Adam on January 20, 2026; his father, Dean Copeland and his mother, Lucille (Shepard) Blazek; as well as his brother, Dennis Copeland.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Private graveside services will be held for Jerry and his son, Adam, at a later date at Little Indian Creek Cemetery in Leland.
