Gerald “Jerry” Fuchs, 78, of Leland, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 26, 1947 in Sandwich, IL the son of Duane and Helen (Alexander) Fuchs. He married Barbara Bingham on November 22, 1969 in Leland, IL. He was a member of Leland United Methodist Church. Jerry proudly served during Vietnam War in the US Navy and later US Army National Guard. He was a lifelong member of Leland American Legion where he was a post commander for 13 years. He also volunteered at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL in the color guard. He was member at the VFW in Sandwich, volunteered at the Leland Fire Department for several years. Jerry retired from ComEd after over 30 years. He enjoyed, fishing, boating, camping and sitting on the front porch watching the traffic go by. He loved riding his golf cart his best dog friend, Bear, riding next to him. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, April (Troy) Hutson of Sandwich, IL, Cristie Fuchs of Leland, IL; grandchildren, Paxton (Zach) Hutson-Hipes of Channahon, IL and Garett Hutson of Sand wich, IL; two sisters, Kathie (Craig) Decker of Sycamore, IL and Rhonda (Dennis) McNurlan of Beloit, WI; a sister-in-law Brenda (Roth) Fuchs of Sheridan IL. and a special friend of the family Jennifer (Nelson -Fuchs) Voss and Eric Voss of Leland IL. In addition, his best friend Lance Brown of Leland IL, whom of which took over as commander of the American Legion post 570, after Gerald D Fuchs retired. He was loved and respected by many people.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Brian Fuchs; and son, David R. Fuchs.

Arrangements were entrusted to Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. A celebration of life and military service at graveside at Little Indian Creek Cemetery in Leland, IL. will be held at a later date.
