George R. Smith, 57, of Leland, Illinois passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home in Leland. He was born May 19, 1954 in Mendota, IL the son of August W. and Elda E. (Cook) Smith Sr. He worked as a truck driver in the area for several companies.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Logston of Ottawa, IL, Spring (Greg) Sorenson of Oglesby, IL and Sara (Doug Purdue) Smith of Earlville, IL, 12 grandchildren, two brothers, August W. (Georgianna) Smith Jr. of Middlebury, IN and Herbert P. (Donna) Smith of Earlville, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Leland Cemetery Leland, IL. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
