George W. Mitchell, 81, of Sandwich, IL passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born July 17, 1938 in Chicago, IL, the son of George and Eileen (Buckley) Mitchell. He married Lucie A. King on June 30, 1985 in Aurora, IL. George was a proud member of the US Coast Guard Reserves. He retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years of service. George enjoyed building furniture and loved socializing.
He is survived by his wife, Lucie of Sandwich, IL; his five children, Barb (Tim) Marks of AZ, David Mitchell of WI, John Mitchell of TN, Billy Mitchell of IN, and Suzanne (Major) Dodge of KY; five grandchildren, Logan Marks, Sarah (Grey) McPherson, Drick Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, and Savannah Dodge; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Kathy and Mary; four sisters-in-law, Dee (Phil) Bolenbaugh of Sugar Grove, IL, Fran (Jim) Michalski of Montgomery, IL, Mary Miller, and Sue Hampel both of Somonauk, IL; one brother-in-law, Frank King, III of Naperville, IL; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
