Gene D. Gary, 77, of Sandwich, IL passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born August 30, 1934 in Aurora, IL, the son of Harold “Doc” and Dorothy (Hermes) Gary. He graduated from Naperville High School in 1952, and married Donna May Huss on April 24, 1954 in Aurora. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was formerly employed by Dyna-Color in Aurora. He and Donna owned and operated Church-Hill Lounge in Aurora. He was a construction project manager for Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 2001. Gene enjoyed snow mobiling in Northern Wisconsin and participated in bridge clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; eight children, Arthur (Brenda) Gary of Yorkville, Dean (Pam) Gary of Hinckley, Gwen (Patrick) Bockman of Sugar Grove, Jim (Sue) Gary of Sandwich, Phil (Shari) Gary of Brooklyn Center, MN, Steve Gary of Sandwich, Vince Gary of Sandwich and Donald (Joy) Gary of Plainfield; one son-in-law, Dan McCormick of Somonauk; twenty grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Joan (Ed) Newkirk of Eureka; one brother, Noel (Joy) Gary of Goddard, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marianne McCormick; his twin brother, Dean Gary and brother, Harold Gary, Jr.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich with Fr. Andrew Hougan and Fr. Jack Heraty officiating. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the church in Sandwich on Saturday, with Rosary service at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
