Gaydeen J. Gilkerson, 64, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, IL. She was born August 5, 1948 in Oakland, CA the daughter of Harry and Joyce (Keenan) Crocker. She was married to Carl D. Gilkerson for 22 years.
She was a member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge. Gaydeen (Candy Lady) was employed at the Basket in Somonauk for over 15 years and at several other local restaurants. She also delivered the Ottawa Daily Times until her retirement.
She is survived by one daughter, Christine Gilkerson of Triumph, IL; three sons, Carl Gilkerson of Peru, IL Craig Gilkerson of Somonauk, IL and Curt Gilkerson of Earlville, IL; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and her companion of 25 years, Dennis Copeland of Ottawa, IL and her dog Willie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Carol Kolesar and one brother, Gary Crocker.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
