Frederick G. "Fred" Johnson

Frederick G. "Fred" Johnson, 86, of Ottawa, IL formerly of Earlville, IL passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Bethany Rehabilitation and Care Center in DeKalb, IL. He was born March 18, 1928 in Kiel, WI the son of Raymond and Adela (Manz) Johnson. He married Virginia E. Mitchell on September 14, 1951 in Quincy, MA. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and later in the U.S. Air Force. Fred worked as an electrician at Caterpillar in Aurora, IL for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.


He is survived by his wife Virginia of Ottawa, IL; their six children, Karen (Donald) Nosalik of Tiskilwa, IL, Mark (Linda) Johnson of Lake Holiday, IL, Paul (Mary) Johnson of Sycamore, IL, Diane Scerini of Earlville, IL, Alan (Rachel) Johnson of Malta, IL and Brian (Linda) Johnson of Ottawa, IL; a son-in-law, David Robinson; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren; one sister Carolyn Johnson of Kiel, WI and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter in infancy, one brother James Johnson.
