Franque Dobbs, 82, of Bloomington-Normal, formerly of Plano, Illinois, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on August 20, 1942, in Sandwich, Illinois, Franque was the beloved daughter of Beatrice and Russel Weiss. A graduate of Plano High School, Class of 1960, Franque maintained strong ties to her community throughout her life.
Franque’s love for music was a defining aspect of her life. She shared her talents as an organist and choir member at both First Baptist Church and Plano Christian Church, enriching the lives of many through her gift. Her passion for nurturing others shone brightly in her career as a home daycare provider, where she lovingly cared for countless children over 15 years.
Her hobbies reflected her vibrant and creative spirit. Franque delighted in cake decorating, bowling, country dancing, ceramics, reading, solving puzzles, and participating in many theater productions.
Franque is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, John Dobbs, whom she married on April 25, 1970. She leaves behind her loving sister, Ruby Smith of Plano, Illinois; her sister-in-law Deloris (husband Dale Bublitz) of Gainesville, Florida; and her three sons, who were the joy of her life: Barry (wife Jenny; children Jonathon, Marty, Melody, Anna, Nicolas, and Cameron) of Madison, Wisconsin; Terry (wife Tammi; sons Elliot and Quinton) of Warrens, Wisconsin; and Jeff (sons Brayden and Cade) of Normal, Illinois. Franque was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Isla and Cormac, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Franque’s family and friends will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. They find solace in knowing she is free from the struggles of Alzheimer’s and will rest peacefully in the loving embrace of her risen Lord.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL. A Funeral Service in Franque’s honor will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the funeral home in Plano with Eric Wooding officiating.
