Frank E. Pettenger, Jr., 85, of Earlville, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Harding. He was born March 4, 1930 in Ashton, IL, the son of Frank E. and Nettie Parlin Pettenger, Sr. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. Frank was a long time resident of Earlville, he worked at Marathon Electric. He relocated to California in 1971 and returned 8 years ago. Frank was a member of Lions Club and Boy Scout Leader for several years. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
He is a father of eight children, Jean Kenneth Clowers of Harding, IL, John Dorothy Pettenger of Minier, IL, Christine Smith of Ottawa, IL, Melinda John Robbins of Harding, IL, Tony Laurie Pettenger of Arizona City, AZ, Angie Mark Wilson of Seneca, IL, Valerie Keith Plique of Streator, IL, and Amy Brusca of Eureka, CA; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Betty Gentry of Daytona Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by parents, five sisters, one brother and four grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, IL with Rev. Bowan Schmitt officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
