Floyd Irvan Wilkinson, 77, formerly of Sandwich, IL and Titusville, Fl., passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 He was born November 17, 1943 in Aurora, IL the son of Harold and Annette (Moir) Wilkinson. He married Mary Jo Klimpke on July 7, 1962 in Aurora, IL. Floyd enjoyed old cars, avid NASCAR racing, and stock car racing, most of all he loved hopping in the car and going on long car rides. He was the founding father of Wilkinson Excavating in 1988 which he owned and operated until retiring in 2004, but still liked to get his boots dirty.
He is survived by one daughter, Kelly Vitaioli of Janesville, WI, three sons, Michael (Dawn) Wilkinson of Sandwich, IL, Jeffrey (Lori) Wilkinson and Richard (Heather) Wilkinson both of Somonauk, IL, ten grandchildren, Jenna (Matt), Nate, Sarah, Alex, Ashley (Eric), Mary (Justin), Zack, Destiny, Sophia and Bella, five great grandchildren, one sister, Sandra Scull of Joliet, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Harold Wilkinson, one sister, Melva Ramey, and one infant great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2021 in the funeral home in Somonauk, IL. In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
